In 2024, Invitalia’s inducements supported 63,000 companies, including 4,100 new ones and 51% located in Southern Italy. More than 39,000 jobs were created or safeguarded, 32% of which in Southern Italy.

These are some of the results achieved by the Invitalia Group in 2024 and contained in the Sustainability Report that accounts for the value generated for people, the environment, communities and territories, institutions and companies. In particular, the document highlights the increasingly central role Invitalia plays in boosting the growth of the country, promoting the competitiveness of companies and territories, supporting strategic sectors of the economy and flanking the Public Administration.

The inducements supported 2,000 businesses run by women and 1,500 businesses run by young people.

The benefits granted amount to EUR 5.9 billion, broken down as follows: EUR 3.1 billion for the implementation of major investments; EUR 2.3 billion for strengthening existing businesses; EUR 413 million for the creation of new companies; and EUR 66 million to support companies in those areas affected by a financial crisis.

The value of the investments activated through the financial benefits is EUR 17.4 billion.

In 2024, 12 equity transaction interventions were carried out through the Fondo Cresci al Sud (Grow in the South Fund) and the Fondo Salvaguardia Imprese (Business Safeguard Fund), for a total of EUR 81.3 million.

The benefits granted for digitalisation and technological innovation projects amounted to EUR 2.9 billion, confirming a prioritisation of the innovation drive even in 2024. In particular: EUR 1.8 billion for development of microelectronics and hydrogen supply chains; EUR 1 billion to support transformation and sustainable innovation processes; EUR 70 million for 135 innovative start-ups and SMEs supported through Smart&Smart Italia inducements; EUR 9.6 million for projects to digitally redevelop cultural operators’ value chain.

While EUR 339.2 million inducements supported the environmental and energy transition.

Businesses were equally supported by new liquidity injected into the system by the Group, through collaterals granted by the Guarantee Fund. The liquidity injected into the system amounted to approximately EUR 39.5 billion, including EUR 17.1 billion in credit operations against eligible assets as collateral (33% in Southern Italy) to over 107,000 companies, and EUR 22.4 billion in secured investments (31% in Southern Italy) for over 57,000 companies.

The role that the Invitalia Group has maintained within the NRRP is significant: in 2024 it supported 20 central administrations in the implementation of programmes for a total value of EUR 52.5 billion.

As regards consumption-inducing measures to promote sustainable mobility, financial benefits totalling EUR 594.7 million were granted through the Ecobonus and Bonus measures for electric vehicle charging stations.

In terms of accelerating public investments, the Invitalia Group also carried out a significant activity in 2024 in the role of Central Contracting Authority and Contracting Station, as part of the implementation of the NRRP and the 2021-2027 national and European programming. 199 tender procedures were launched, for a total investment of EUR 1.9 billion. A total of 237 tendering procedures were awarded, for an overall value of EUR 3.9 billion.

On the PA support front, Invitalia has ensured technical assistance to the Administrations for the implementation of the NRRP and the EU and national Operational Programmes, with 53 supported programmes.

Invitalia continued to offer PA consultancy, technical-specialist, digital administration, modernisation and digitisation services throughout 2024, on 31 projects in total, including 8 for network development and digitisation of citizens’ services, and 6 for strengthening the PA's administrative capacity.

Moreover, Invitalia managed inducements supporting tourism development and artistic and cultural heritage protection projects. 362 projects were admitted in 2024, triggering investments for EUR 11 million, 31% of which in Southern Italy. The Agency also supported the management of public tenders to implement projects and infrastructures aimed at protecting and digitising the country's artistic and cultural heritage. A total of 30 tendering procedures - worth EUR 47.6 million - were launched, with 55% of the tenders located in Southern Italy. 

Internally, too, there has been a constant commitment to contain consumption in its company facilities, with an intelligent use of energy sources and with a focus on reducing the use of paper and plastic. Sustainable mobility initiatives have also been strengthened in order to reduce emissions from commuting and to encourage the use of “green” means of transport.

Women at Invitalia represent over 51% of all employees, while 18% of employees are under 30 years of age.
