WHO WE ARE

DRI D’Italia S.p.A., 100% owned by the Agenzia nazionale per l’attrazione degli investimenti e lo sviluppo d’impresa (Invitalia), is the company founded at the behest of the Government and Parliament for the purpose of studying the sustainability of plants for the production of direct reduced iron (DRI) or pre-doped and successively to proceed to their building and management, using public funds for the decarbonisation of the hard to abate sectors. Currently, it is developing the detailed engineering aspects, preliminary to the start of the construction works of DRI production plant.
OUR MISSION
- Promoting the energy transition and the ecological evolution of the Italian steel industry and protecting the environment by contributing to the process of reducing climate-changing emissions and the carbon footprint in Italy and in particular, in the area of Taranto. This is done through the production of DRI in hydrogen and natural gas-powered plants that allow the use of electric steel furnaces for the production of green steel
- Supporting the steel supply chain through the introduction of DRI on the Italian market to reduce national dependence on foreign scrap and cope with the reduction in the availability of raw materials due to economic and geopolitical reasons
