Ex Libris expands its European organization opening Italy unit

15 july 2009

Jerusalem-based library automation software developer Ex Libris Group expands its European Organization and has announced the opening of Ex Libris Italy—a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company. This 10th Ex Libris office will work directly with the Company's expanding customer base in Italy and Slovenia.

Ex Libris president and CEO Matti Shem Tov said that market research conducted by the company showed the region's potential is around €10 million over the next 3-4 years.

The opening of this office, at an investment of €2 million is part of the continually expanding Ex Libris European organization.

Under the management of Marc Daubach, corporate VP and general manager Europe the investment follows the Company's acquisition of Atlantis s.r.l., exclusive distributor of Ex Libris products in Italy and Slovenia since 1989.

Liliana Morotti—previously chief operations officer and marketing director at Atlantis--will assume the role of general manager of Ex Libris Italy and will be responsible for sales and marketing in Italy and Slovenia.

The first Ex Libris distributorship worldwide, Atlantis was central in introducing, implementing, and supporting the entire Ex Libris product suite in the Italian and Slovenian market.

Amongst the over 70 prestigious academic and national institutions running Ex Libris products in these countries are the Bank of Italy, the National and University Library in Slovenia, the universities of Genova, Firenze, Padova, and Siena, and the Camera dei Deputati and Senato della Repubblica--the two institutions that make up the Italian parliament.

"The very long friendship between Ex Libris and Atlantis began back in the 1980s, in the early days of library automation," explains Erwin Linthout, general manager of Atlantis s.r.l. "We are proud to have contributed to the incredible growth of Ex Libris in Italy and in Europe during the 20 years of our association with the Company"

"Atlantis s.r.l. has done an outstanding job in developing the Ex Libris customer base in Italy and Slovenia and in supporting these customers over the years," comments Marc Daubach, corporate vice president and general manager, Europe at Ex Libris.

Ex Libris is a leading provider of automation solutions for academic, national, and research libraries. Offering comprehensive product suite for electronic, digital, and print materials. Ex Libris maintains an impressive customer base consisting of thousands of sites in more than 70 countries on six continents.
