In light of the domestic market’s strong growth potential and that of the Mediterranean area, Italy presents significant investment opportunities not only in terms of the implementation of photovoltaic systems thanks to the New Energy Account’s subsidised tariffs, but also in the manufacturing and research sectors.
The main opportunities for operators concern:
- The creation of production plants for photovoltaic technology;
- Industrial automation;
- Research partnerships;
- Renewable energy production from photovoltaic systems.
Creation of Production Plants for Photovoltaic Technology, also through conversion of existing plants:
- Components (polysilicon, wafers, cells, modules);
- Auxiliary applications for photovoltaic plants (inverters, trackers etc.);
- Building Integrated Photovoltaic Products for architectural integration in historic buildings or for new prefabricated buildings, particularly with thin-film technology;
Industrial Automation, through partnerships with Italian companies operating in mechatronics and industrial automation to develop innovative machines and production chains for the production of:
- Polysilicon and wafers, currently using very costly methods
- Thin-Film (a-Si, Cd-Te, CGS, etc.)
- Third Generation Panels, organically based, hybrid, etc.
Research Partnerships, to improve conversion yields and lead to the marketing of:
- Thin-Film
- Third Generation Photovoltaics (hybrid, organic, dye synthesised)
Renewable Energy Production from Photovoltaic Plants, thanks to the New Energy Account’s incentive scheme: High population density (rooftop)
- Availability of areas, including reclaimable areas, destined for so-called solar-farms and wide availability of industrial rooftops for high amount of SMEs across the country.
